List Building ok, Blog….very sick!
Posted by Gale10 in Uncategorized on December 29th, 2008
Hello!
Well my list building is going ok. My list is growing steadily, and I am looking forward to giving everyone the extra information we have for them, plus other gifts that I have for anyone that signs up. I want my list to have all they need and more to build great businesses for themselves.
Sadly, my blog is a bit poorly. In that for some reason that I haven’t yet fathomed, there can be no comments. If you want to say anything to me, you can email me at gale_10@hotmail.co.uk. When I have sorted out the problem I will add your emails as messages, so you will still be heard.
I have started to do a few classified ads, which are free - and seem to be working! I would recommend both www.craigslist.org and www.adjingo.com , it doesn’t take much to just add a bit of text to a pic of List Building with Alex and you have an ad that could get you traffic for months to come.
You may be wondering why there is a picture of a woman on this post. This is because I have started to read some interesting stuff from this blog site www.copyblogger.com. It’s a high ranking site that helps people with their copywriting, among other things.
There was a blog post that said that people (both men and women) find pages where there are semi naked women to be attractive.
Since you can’t post any comments at the moment (although you can email me them Gale_10@hotmail.co.uk) you may as well have at least one perk!
I have got a few images which I bought from www.istockphotos.com - I am allowed to use them on this blog, in fact, use them pretty much as I like, because I am licensed to do so.
I hope everyone who is list building is having a productive time, and I look forward to getting my poor blog well again!
Best wishes,
Ruth

Article marketing and how to build a list
Posted by Gale10 in Uncategorized on December 27th, 2008
Hello there!
Do you sometimes feel you have lots of information swirling round your head in no particular order? I do. What I do when that happens is I do a brain dump - I write down everything I can think of thats buzzing around in there and I write it down. Great for clearing the mind. Our mentor Alex Jeffreys taught us that, among many other things.
I have written an article today and put it on to my favourite article site which is www.goarticles.com. It’s my favourite because it puts the articles up really quickly. Some article sites take weeks to put up articles which I personally find very annoying. If you have made a mistake with goarticles they tell you straight away - you cannot actually post an article with what they consider a mistake in it. Which is so much better than some of them.
The most popular one is ezine articles, which have a human check the articles and they are very strict. One thing that I learned recently is that, contary to popular opinion, you can have active links in ezine articles provided they are after the third paragraph. I am going to write one for ezines next and see if I can confirm this from personal experience. If I can, of course, I will let you know.
I have not got a great deal to tell you today about anything I have been doing about traffic. I have got myself into a little routine of doing six tasks on a daily basis. These aren’t always successful - for instance I don’t always find myself able to make ten comments on forums, but that is what I aim for. I guess with everyone being on holiday around this time, less people are online asking questions!
So, I will leave you in peace, and let you know any other ideas and thoughts I have when they happen!
Best wishes,
Ruth

Pinging - helps with traffic, SEO and list building
Posted by Gale10 in Uncategorized on December 26th, 2008

Hello there,
I have some news on pinging - I have to confess it is something that I don’t understand fully still. But from a layperson to another, pinging reminds sites that you have a new post. Now I had read that you don’t need to ping blogs because with wordpress, it pings for you. Which it does. One ping site.
How many ping sites are there? Well I don’t know but there are a lot more than one! Probably in fact there are thousands. But to get you started if you have a blog and you want to get the word out and get more traffic, more comments, more links and therefore move up higher in the SEO stakes, then you need to add these to your blog.
If you have a self hosted wordpress blog like this one, you need to go to your dashboard. You need to scroll down to Settings, click, then click on writing. If you scroll down again it will show you the box where there is one pinging site.
Copy this list and paste it in there:

Your site will get a lot more exposure now!
I would love to tell you that I had found this out on my own, but thanks need to go back to the Fortunate 500 forum (available only to Alex Jeffreys students, sorry) where I discovered this information. But sure enough, it will help bloggers everywhere and it’s great if we can all help one another!
So there you go, thats my tip of the day so far. If I find anything else of interest today, I will be sure to let you know!
Best wishes,
Ruth
P.S. Here is a video from the fantastic Matt to show you how to add pinglist to your blog.

Traffic - rich, Listing building - ?
Posted by Gale10 in Uncategorized on December 25th, 2008
Hello!
Well I am still getting traffic, which for the day is pretty good. But I wouldn’t know about list building because aweber are not in their offices until Saturday. I hope they are having a lovely time.
Yesterday I managed to sort out RSS on this blog, which I hope will have a positive effect. I have claimed my blog at technorati and I was recommended onlywire. Onlywire is a company that will send your blog posts to many different social bookmarking sites all at once. This has the effect of getting your writing out there for people to comment on, almost taking your word to them, rather than them coming ot you.

- Image by Stabilo Boss via Flickr
Onlywire had dual membership, one is free and one you pay for, but it is $25 per year, which to me is a reasonable charge for what it is. My mum used to say £1 is a lot of money if you haven’t got it; I am always reluctant to say “only”, because it does all depend on your perspective. But I think it is a way to get people to read your blog and maybe come back to it. And free is good!
Another traffic targeting tip I came across on Jim Gallaghers blog is RAD or Revolving Ads Depot. You need to go there and see the ads, they look good. There is free membership or paid membership, paid is $25 but that is for a lifetime. So I guess it depends on how long you live to see how much value it is! He he he!
Anyway, both those sites are worth a look.
I am off now to do some more bits and pieces, anything I find that looks good I will come back and tell you all about of course.
Many people are on holiday today I believe - I hope you are all having a good time in your tinsel worlds!
Best wishes,
Ruth

List Building and being the best you can be!

Well, first things first. You know some days come along and you do everything you are supposed to, and your To Do list looks the same as your Did Today list (plus a bit more, because I am a girlie swat). I had one of those yesterday. So today I bounced out of bed, thinking I could do the same today, and that perhaps I am actually becoming one of those wonderwomen that can do everything all the time!
Ooooooooh NO! Sadly, today has not been one of those days. Today was a day that I failed to get a grip on. I have done some work - I have made some progress, but with none of the smugness of yesterday. There are still things that I could have done and perhaps should have done but didn’t. Anyway, that is enough introspection, now time for the useful stuff.
I have wandered round quite a few blogs, and I have discovered a few things I really don’t like. Firstly, I don’t like being lectured to so I want to say sorry, if anyone has felt that I have done that. Secondly, I really do like pictures, especially bright ones!
I was really pleased to find this blog because this man, he has done a list of tips for bloggers, and I thought it was really very good - tips for bloggers. His name is Chris Brogan, he has a lot of experience writing blogs, and I felt he could give some good advice.
Now traffic. The thing about traffic is that you need to be able to measure it. You need your google analytics to work. Mine doesn’t, I don’t think.
I have got a traffic tip for you though. There is a company called Hits2U.comand they give you seven days free traffic, if you recommend three people though, that changes to 365 days free traffic! Cool! As is usual with these things, you can pay and then you get more exposure, but you don’t have to. I have signed up with them, I will let you know how it goes (if I can get GoogleAnalyzer to work that is!)
Another way of getting the word out about yourself and your site or blog or whatever, is to go on forums. There are many about, and you can usually put your blog or site or both in the signature box. So then if you keep at it you will get known for giving good advice. Like a blog, your reply will be there for a long time, so it can be clicked on and you can get traffic from it for a long time.
Right I am off now, going to twitter and do a few other bits and pieces.
You can follow me on twitter here: http://twitter.com/Gale10
I look forward to hearing from you all,
Best wishes,
Ruth

List Building all over the world!

Hello!
Well, good morning, and it is a good morning because I got traffic in the night! I am so happy! I would thoroughly recommend Feedjit. It’s free, and it shows you not just how many people have come through your blog but also where they come from. Lots of pretty flags to go on your site. I feel like the traffic is zooming past>>>>>.
I just want a few of my lovely readers to sign up to the newsletter and maybe even get the List Building System. They will get all the information we have got to help us build a list of people all interested in their products! What could be better?
Also, regarding traffic, I have a link to an interesting article I found on ProBlogger.com. It gives three good tips on getting more traffic. It is quite an old article but the information is still relevant. Here it is:
I also noticed that there were many people who were starting out in blogging and wanted to get more tips, which proves there are people out there looking for the kind of information on traffic that we are putting on our blogs.
I actually think that its interesting finding out all this stuff - even doing the research. It feels a bit like panning for gold, I feel great when I find a useful little nugget I can include.
If I find anything else interesting I will most certainly add it.
Until then, best wishes,
Ruth

Getting Traffic - another approach!
Posted by Gale10 in Uncategorized on December 21st, 2008
Hello,
I have done another thing to help to get traffic to this blog today, and registered with three blog directories. One said it could triple the traffic, again I have no idea whether it will work wonders for my little blog here, but these things have to be worth a try.
I have also added some plugins, three-in-one SEO, and a Google sitemaps one. Google sitemaps is quite an important one because it enables Google to actually find your blog. You can make a site more appealing to Google by adding sitemaps in the html I believe but of course, we can’t mess with the html on Wordpress. Well, I certainly can’t anyway - I have had enough of disappearing blogs! (See below!) So the plugin will help your site be found on Google and thus increase your traffic.
We are supposed to be writing about traffic I know, but I would feel I was not being honest if I said “Oh yes this is definitely the way to get traffic.” For someone inexperienced, like myself, it seems fairer to say well this is what I have thought of to try. Unless I am positive that it gets traffic I cannot personally recommend it. I hope people think that is fair.
I am going to try and do something new every day for the next twelve days at least, as well as the things I am more confident about. I think although the competition is great motivation, I would feel bad if I hadn’t tried everything I could think of.
Anyway, I am off to tackle more of the days tasks.
Best wishes,
Ruth Stewart

List Building is possible today!
Posted by Gale10 in Uncategorized on December 21st, 2008
Hello!
Yes, at last I feel slightly better, hurrah!
As Alex says, we should go round other peoples sites and pick up traffic tips. So dutifully I go round some other peoples sites and I notice two things.
First thing - lots and lots of sites on the list from Garrys site don’t work! I don’t mean the left hand side list, I mean the list of other students. These are the ones that found everyone else a bit later, myself included in that list.
A lot of these blogs are not coming up in the browser. This is a sad thing it suggests that people are dropping out. One guy has dropped out because he noticed an increase in his email. Now I haven’t noticed that - I get about 50 emails a day and respond to about 3 of them. I delete loads and some get filed. I think that is not a great excuse to leave the programme. I guess if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen!
But it is a shame about the people who’s blogs have just not come up. I hope they are working on their blogs and they will be back with us soon. That will make me feel much better. However, I do know that statistically speaking only about 5% will continue the course and go on to make money and be successful. So the fact that there is so many of us is an indicator of Alex success. Fantastic!
Ok, on a more positive note I found a blog with some good traffic tips - firstly adding a FeedJit box. I had never heard of them but Jim Gallagher said he had got traffic and converting traffic as well (two buyers I believe) from this. If you notice down below I have added a FeedJit box to my site. I have no idea what it will do to my traffic because I only installed it a few minutes ago. But lets hope I get some good conversions from it - goodness knows, I do need them!
The second is more contraversial. I have joined a traffic exchange. Jim Gallagher says he got traffic with it - I am happy to give it a try. There is a free version or you can go for gold or platinum which you have to pay for. The traffic exchange is called TS25, they did give me a link but I am not putting it up until I am sure it works personally. I don’t want to recommend a dud.
I will also tell you the traffic tips that I personally do.
I am a member of USfreeads, and I have put up lots of adverts on there and got a few sign-ups from there.
I have written a couple of articles one of which is published, two are waiting confirmation.
I have got one video on Myspace, plus I have videos on fourteen sites through Hey, Spread! and fifteen sites through Traffic Geyser (see post below).
I also belong to a variety of forums, and I post on them with my link in my signature, although less in the last few days with me being under the weather.
Apart from write on this blog, that’s all I have done. I am not going to tell you how many sign-ups I have.
So, thats all I can help anyone with today, although I will keep you informed of any great things that happen, of course.
Jim Gallaghers blog is www.kotobot.com.
Take care, and
Best wishes,
Ruth Stewart

I disappeared!
Posted by Gale10 in Uncategorized on December 19th, 2008
Hello,
I tried to download wordpress 2.7 and my blog disappeared, it was all very worrying. A big thank you to Paula Brett, for sound advice and support. It was not easy for me to update to 2.7 I would say make sure you can really do it before you try on your blog, it takes a good level of proficiency.
Ok now I must go and active my googleanalyzer!
Best wishes,
Ruth

MySpace Traffic!
Posted by Gale10 in Uncategorized on December 19th, 2008
Hello Guys!
Fantastic module last night, I didn’t come offline until half three, couldn’t sleep for another hour because I was so stoked.
It wasn’t all the module though (sorry Alex). Before the module I happened to glance at a YouTube video about traffic. The man showed he jumped onto the first page of Google in two days. I thought, well, nothing ventured nothing gained, and before the module I put a video on MySpace.
When I got off the module I looked at Google. For putting in my name, Ruth Stewart, I had gone from 12th place, to fifth place. For Alex Jeffreys List Building I had gone from page three to page two. That was in a few hours. I haven’t checked this morning because I really wanted to get this on my blog.
The sad thing is I havent yet been able to find the YouTube video that I watched, but there are loads on YouTube so you wont have any trouble finding one. Just get a MySpace account and get a video up, if you are the sort of person who watches their place in Google. The higher up we are, the more likely to get organic traffic to our sites and blogs.
Ok, now I have got that off my chest, I can go read all your comments, and then maybe get a couple of hours more sleep. Unless I get too giddy about something else then I wont be able to again!!!
Even my dog looks at me like I am crazy!
Best wishes,
Ruth
