Wealthy Affiliate Member Says: Never Give In!

*Looks round at the dust piling up………………*

Yep I haven’t been around for about a month. I took July off to spend some time with my family, plus I had one or two items that needed some time spent on them away from the internet.

As I come back people are talking about another Google slap. It seems to me that there isn’t much information about the slap that is utterly quantifiable right now. One thing I have heard is that Google doesn’t like affiliate marketers and it is us that are getting slapped hardest.

If any of my readers are concerned about this, I would like to direct you to a guy I have been following for a while and who makes a whole lot of sense, Andrew Hansen. You can read his thoughts on Google slap.

So, one of the reasons I took some time off was because I was totally fed up with affiliate marketing, internet marketing, the whole nine yards.

I felt pulled in all sorts of directions, I felt let down by people I respected, and I felt that perhaps this just wasn’t going to be the career for me. I think many of us feel like that from time to time.  Taking a month out has given me time to think about what I want to do and where I have been going wrong.

Many of you will know that I have been internet marketing for about a year now. I am sad to admit that I do not yet earn enough to “fire my boss”. I did seriously think about giving up the whole deal, canceling my Aweber and Hostgator accounts and heading back to what some consider normality. But there is something inside me that knows that this can work, and that it will work for me.

I have gathered so much information in the last year, so much knowledge, that surely it must count for something? It feels like I have all the pieces of the jigsaw but I just need to line them all up right.

Then I realised what was missing. It is fairly embarrassing to admit but what I have lacked is consistancy.

I know I need to keep doing things day after day to make the links and get the recognition I need to succeed. I need to be seen as an expert in my niche, and I need my site to have links, great links.

For your information, I have tried a few link shortcuts and frankly they do not work. I have added my site to link directory after link directory - don’t bother. Unless you have a page on your site that has a load of reciprocal links (who would want that anyway, it would ruin your SEO techniques) then you really shouldn’t waste time with that.

I believe that in order to get good quality links you need to think about what you are putting out there. Get links these ways:

Putting articles on EzineArticles. GoArticles or similar

Making Squidoo lenses, or hubpages, or ehow to’s

Writing good comments on peoples blogs. By which I mean not “great blog interesting info” type comments - add some value people! I get hundreds of comments that are just a waste of time. I mark them as spam.

When you pay good money for links, I think those are the links people make. Generic meaningless comments that just get deleted.

So make it meaningful, add some value, give an opinion, help someone out, that way your comments will be appreciated.

Use forums. Most of them will allow a signature. This is a great way to build a reputation, build relationships. You can easily add value to a discussion in your particular niche. Every time you add value people will not only see that you know what you are talking about, but they will also see your signature with your website on it. It’s another link.

I read somewhere that a new site needs about 1,000 links. That sounds like a huge amount, but if you are consistant (see it comes back to that again!) that amount is possible. Decide how long you want to work on your site before it becomes successful, pulling in many visitors per day. 100 days? So you need to produce ten links a day.

I have a site that is a few months old and it has links, a few. Some internal links too, of course, they are vital. But I am going to work hard on it. I am going to invest some time in it.

Every single day in August I am going to add an article to my site, to EzineArticles, plus to anywhere else I can where I can add value. I am aiming at ten links per day. I will not be checking email every five minutes, hanging out on twitter, chatting on the phone, or any other distraction. My daily goal is ten links which add value. Until I do that everything else can wait. It is my attempt at consistancy.

As always, my friends, I will let you know how I get on.

Best wishes,

Ruth

Wealthy Affiliate Member says - Work Smarter David Congreave

Hi!

I have been watching some videos by David Congreave, since his launch of Instant Website Creation, because I wanted to show you how knowledgeable this guy really is. I am a bit gutted that I wasn’t into internet marketing when I lived round the corner to him; now I live miles away I don’t see him every week to pick his brains!

You can see that David really knows what he is about. He is also willing to help and if you get stuck on any of his projects then email him, and he will do his best to help.

I have been trying to put a video in here for you but it is not happening today on this blog, so here are some links to his videos instead.

Wealthy Affiliate Member Has To Mention Stompernet Again!

Hello!

I have had a couple of days off, we have had great weather here in Scotland. You won’t hear that too often!

While I have been enjoying the sunshine and getting in some driving practise, (my test is 4th June), I have been thinking about this blog and how some people come in and read a few posts, but some are just driving by and maybe only read the top post.

So because of that I wanted to recommend again the unbelieveable offer from Stompernet. If you haven’t heard of Read the rest of this entry »

Wealthy Affiliate Member Still!

Hello,

Yes, I am still around. I have been away for a week at Mothers, so no possibility of getting any significant work done there. I am still learning loads at Wealthy Affiliate and really enjoying my time there. I am still learning so much, and I am thinking about offering my new found skills to local businesses.

I think my experience of getting my squidoo lenses ranking pretty highly in Google, especially in a quite competitive arena, will help me be able to get most local businesses ranking highly, plus now my website building skills are rapidly improving, I could offer a good service all round.

I have Wealthy Affiliate to thank for this new found knowledge, and I am pleased to say it has been a huge eye-opener to me. I believe that, although I have not made huge amounts of money yet,  it will come. Although I have been at Wealthy Affiliate for four weeks now, only three of them have been spent working (because of visiting Mothers) but by the time I have reached the end of the course, then I will be well on my way to earning a good income online.

If you would like to have a look at my squidoo lenses, here are the links:

http://www.squidoo.com/Wealthy-Affiliate-a-successful-marketing-plan-for-business

http://www.squidoo.com/Marketing-Mums-List-Building-Ladies-

and finally, my pet lens (not to do with Wealthy Affiliate)

http://www.squidoo.com/good-pet-stuff-for-kids

So they are my squidoo lenses, please feel free to let me know what you think of them.

I am not going to be doing much on Wealthy Affiliate for the next four days, because on Tuesday I have my theory driving test! I am pretty nervous and I will be studying like mad for it. I am so hoping to pass it and then pass my driving test. I even have a car sitting on the road next to my house, so I have something to drive as well.

I hope all my readers are doing well with whatever they are planning, as ever feel free to drop me a message if you think I can help in any way.

All the best,

Ruth

Profit Lance

Hello!

For anyone interested in Internet Marketing there is a product that I hugely recommend. When I say product - please be assured this is not a single item at all, more like a complete groundwork covering all the basics of internet marketing.

It covers Affiliate Marketing, Google Adense, Information Products, Getting Traffic, Writing Sales Copy, and SEO Tactics. Each subject is clearly explained, and there are also explainatary videos that go along with it.

More importantly, each section has a number of projects which you go over, and you also have 15 websites that are pre-built for you personally, which you can use to make money (which is yours) plus use to do the projects on.

The person that wrote this, Michael Andrews, is available to email at any time. I personally have not emailed him,but having done some research on this, the reply time varies from 15 mins to a few hours.

The information on the course is constantly updated, and the projects are organised so as you work through the projects you get a few more, so you work a your own pace until you have completely covered the basics.

The cost of the course covers you for a lifetime of updates, once you are a member that’s it, you are always welcome back to catch up with any new information that comes out.

If you are thinking, wow this has to be a four figure price tag, you are going to be very pleased and surprised. The price is very reasonable for the amount of product that you get - over deliver is the term here!

Be warned! I have heard that soon this plan is going to be switched from lifetime membership to monthly membership which I am sure still would be totally worth it - but if you want to get it at a once only price then CLICK HERE!

To your success!

Best wishes,

Ruth

Tools That Help List Building

bodyforblog3Today I want to talk about one of the tools that I have used to get my traffic so far. Over the last couple of weeks I have been driving lots of traffic to this blog, but I haven’t had the sign-ups that I have wanted.

So for the next few days until the next module of training (Thursday) I have been directing some of my paid traffic through to my squeeze page to see if it does any better. It’s not on advice from Alex, but it’s just something I wanted to try for myself.

So, tools. For everything anyone ever wanted to build, there are tools, and list building is no exception. I have told you about a few of the ones I have liked over the past couple of weeks, but there is one  more that I have been testing that I want to tell you about also.

The first one is free, so off to a great start there! It consists of three pieces of software, the first is very useful to us because it let’s the user know if a blog has “no-follow” plug-ins. This means if  you go to the trouble of writing on the blog, and it does have the no-follow plug-ins, then you won’t get the benefit of trackbacks to your blog. You can then concentrate on the blogs that do allow trackbacks and this will improve your general rank. Remember what Alex says about associating yourself with leaders? Well this part of the software helps with that.

The other piece of software that it contains checks other peoples sites Alexa rank and what back links it has, which can be useful because sometimes sites can have back links to undesirable sites, which Google spiders might not like.

There is another piece of software but to be honest I didn’t use, and don’t really know how to explain but it does apparently help with SEO. The link for all these free pieces of software is here.

There is another thing I want to show you and maybe you will think this is cheesy, but I was shown something similar recently and it motivated me.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1HNHbucBXrA

There you go, I hope it works for you too. I try and remember this when gathering the list seems to be an up hill battle, and not one that I am winning.

Right, thats me off to bed, it’s 12.14am here!

Best wishes,

Ruth

Pinging - helps with traffic, SEO and list building

Ping.sg 1st Anniversary Party and Blog Awards

Hello there,

I have some news on pinging - I have to confess it is something that I don’t understand fully still. But from a layperson to another, pinging reminds sites that you have a new post. Now I had read that you don’t need to ping blogs because with wordpress, it pings for you. Which it does. One ping site.

How many ping sites are there? Well I don’t know but there are a lot more than one! Probably in fact there are thousands. But to get you started if you have a blog and you want to get the word out and get more traffic, more comments, more links and therefore move up higher in the SEO stakes, then you need to add these to your blog.

If you have a self hosted wordpress blog like this one, you need to go to your dashboard. You need to scroll down to Settings, click, then click on writing. If you scroll down again it will show you the box where there is one pinging site.

Copy this list and paste it in there:

Your site will get a lot more exposure now!

I would love to tell you that I had found this out on my own, but thanks need to go back to the Fortunate 500 forum (available only to Alex Jeffreys students, sorry) where I discovered this information. But sure enough, it will help bloggers everywhere and it’s great if we can all help one another!

So there you go, thats my tip of the day so far. If I find anything else of interest today, I will be sure to let you know!

Best wishes,

Ruth

P.S. Here is a video from the fantastic Matt to show you how to add pinglist to your blog.

How to update your pinglist on Wordpress blog!
